Two Ways To Create Higher Cheekbones
Cheekbones can be enhanced either:
- Non-Surgically; or
- Surgically by inserting Cheek Implants or by a Facial Fat Transfer.
Either way, higher cheekbones can dramatically enhance facial appearance and deliver a more striking appearance.
Mid-Face Volume Loss Correction
As we age, not only does our facial skin start to sag but deeper soft tissues and bone also shrink and contribute to the signs of ageing.
In the upper face, cheekbones lose their prominence.
In the mid-face, the youthful fat pads on the front of the cheeks shrink and migrate downwards under the effects of gravity, initially causing a flattened’ appearance, and then progressing to create ‘hollows’ over the mid-face.
Restoration of lost mid-face volume can be a worthwhile rejuvenating option for those with:
- ‘Flat’ mid-cheeks
- ‘Hollows’ across the mid-face due to volume loss caused by weight loss or ageing.
- A simple desire for fuller cheeks as a beauty enhancement.
By adding volume to the cheeks with a Facial Fat Transfer, we can very effectively reverse areas of volume loss across the mid-face and deliver a fresher and more youthful appearance. Moreover, extending the mid-face volume replacement onto the cheekbones can deliver an even more striking correction and rejuvenation!
At Sydney Cosmetic & Plastic Surgery Clinic, we approach these treatments very meticulously, always careful to create a very natural ‘look’ as opposed to an over-filled, ‘chipmunk’ appearance!
In other words, our aim is always to deliver a fresh and natural rejuvenation by restoring what has been lost, and maybe even a little extra to beautify, but never to a degree that looks excessive or unnatural.
Can I Claim a Medicare or Private Health Insurance Rebate?
Unfortunately, NO.
Cheek Augmentation, be it by Facial Fat Transfer or solid Cheek Implants, are cosmetic procedures and therefore cannot be claimed on Medicare or Private Health Insurance.
FAQ
Cheek Augmentation can be achieved by either of two ways:
- Non-surgically – by injection of a filler material; or
- Surgically with cheek implants or fat transfer.
On 7 March 2024, the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), Australia’s government authority responsible for assessing, monitoring and regulating medicines and medical devices, reinforced its Regulations on the advertising of various cosmetic injectables.
TGA reminded doctors that dermal fillers are Schedule 4 Prescription Medicines and therefore, are not permitted in the advertising of cosmetic health services. Also prohibited are before/after photographs of cheek dermal fillers and the prices of such treatments. The TGA has the power to prosecute and fine clinics contravening these Regulations.
On its website, TGA has stated the following:
“Either directly or indirectly, you cannot make any reference in your advertisement for cosmetic injection services to prescription-only substances or to product trade names of such products. This includes acronyms, nicknames, abbreviations and hashtags, which may be taken by a consumer as a reference to a specific prescription-only medicine or substance”
The procedure takes only around 20-30 minutes and is performed very simply and painlessly through a single, tiny entry point in the skin that has been numbed with a small amount of local anaesthetic.
Through this tiny entry point, a fine blunt-tipped cannula is inserted to deliver product that will replace lost mid-face volume or create striking higher cheekbones.
The correction is apparent immediately after the treatment. With our special cannula technique, there should be no bruising or discomfort whatsoever.
This basically depends on the choice of product and how much is required. Our doctor will give you an exact costing prior to any treatment as soon as he/she has determined how many syringes you will need.
